The Z±ION Membrane Protection System floods your watermaker with silver/copper ions that collect in the filters and membranes to prevent the microbial deterioration of the filter media and membrane. The Z±ION prolongs the service life of filters and membranes without the use of aggressive chemicals. The Z±ION goes into action automatically during the fresh water flush cycle and only needs to be repeated every 30 days.
All Spectra watermakers are designed to be operated with the Z±ION.
If you have any questions on what you might need or don’t see something on the website send us an e-mail or call and we will help assist you!
Instead of using harsh chemicals cleaning your membrane, or worrying about making sure you fresh water flush every 5 days. The Zion system gives cruisers a peace of mind knowing their membrane is protected.
The Z-ION extends the fresh water flush cyle from every 5 days to every 30 days.
Alot of times power can be turned off or tanks run empty without you knowing which can lead to having to replace your membrane(s). The cost of a couple of membranes already cover the cost of the Z-ION System.
The Z-ION can be retro fitted or ordered with a new system.
If you are putting a Z-ION onto an existing system it will replace the regular charcoal filter housing.
Q: Does the Z-ION need a special kind of filter? A: No, the charcoal filter is the same for all units with or without a Z-ION.
Q: What does the Charcoal filter do? A: The Charcoal filter takes out chlorine in the water that could be in your tanks or from the dock water. Chlorine will destroy your membrane.
Q: For how long is the Charcoal filter good for? A: If the charcoal filter gets wet it is good for 6 months, if it doesn’t get wet they can be kept for longer periods of time.
Q: How much extra power does this draw? A: The power draw is very low, on a Manual system it draws about 15 watts per flush cycle.
Q: I am a full time cruiser does it make sense for me to put a Z-ION on my system? A: The simple answer is not really, if you are living aboard you will be using your watermaker frequently so you will keep up with the fresh water flushing. If you do have to leave you boat for some time it would be better to store your system instead.
Q: How does it extend the life of the flush cycle? A: It Ionizes the water with copper and silver ions each flush cycle.
